The London Borough of Hounslow 14-19 team operates the Connexions service which provides careers information, advice and guidance (CIAG) to young people aged 14 – 19, or up to 25 for those with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
Connexions offers a bespoke service to Hounslow secondary schools, Woodbridge Park Education Service, West Thames College, and other local specialist provision. A team of Careers Advisers deliver IAG to young people in Year 11 who may be at risk for becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) at the end of the year, or who may need additional support to help them apply for suitable training, apprenticeships or other courses. Year 12 and Year 13 pupils may also be identified for risk of NEET support by the school or provider. This role is additional to other careers support Hounslow secondary schools may offer their own pupils
Connexions also offers careers information, advice and support to pupils who have a recognised learning disability of difficulty and have an EHCP and require additional support to plan their future. These would usually be pupils in Year 11 or in the last year of compulsory education.
Careers support for unemployed 16-19- year old young people or up to 25 for those with an EHCP
Connexions provides a careers support service for 16-19 residents who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training). This service can be extended to resident young people up to the age of 25 who have an EHCP.
There are two venues where unemployed young people can access careers support, either by appointment or drop in:
Mondays, 2-5pm, Hounslow Library, Hounslow House, 7 Bath Road, Hounslow TW3 3EB
Wednesday and Thursdays, 2-5pm, Feltham Library, The Centre, High Street, Feltham TW13 4GU
This service would suit most young people who require careers information, advice and guidance or to be signposted to training provision, apprenticeships or college courses. Clients can also access support to produce CVs and applications, undertake job and course searches and prepare for college, job or training interviews.
Professional referral: Hounslow agencies can refer young people who may not be suitable for the drop in and who may require additional, longer-term support from our team of Careers Advisers. Please request a copy of the Connexions referral form.
