Positive Interaction for Childminders

Positive Interaction

Developing adult-child interactions in the childminding setting

Target Audience

Childminders

Course Aims

• Refresh knowledge and understanding of how communication and attachment relationships develop from birth

• Show how the adult can use specific interaction strategies to create a language rich environment for all children in play and during care routines

This informative, interactive course covers:

Positive Interaction -

What is a Positive Interaction and why do they matter so much? - Developing a shared understanding of why the positive interactions a child experiences from birth play such an important role in their future as well as taking a moment to reflect on the impact of not having enough positive interactions.

How can we have more Positive interactions? What are the PI strategies, and can we identify them being used by practitioners? Through analysing video footage, practitioners will be supported to look at key positive interaction strategies in more detail and identify the role of the adult in developing communication, language and secure attachment relationships. A set of three PI postcards and a pyramid will be given to each attendee.

Time to reflect
Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on what can get in the way of having positive interactions and identify a key area for developing positive interactions in their own practice.
