A Young Carer is someone aged 25 and under who cares for a friend or family member who, due to illness, disability, mental health problems or an addiction, cannot cope without their support.
Older Young Carers are also known as Young Adult Carers and they may have different support needs to younger Carers.
If you think you may be a Young Carer and wish to learn more about what this means, or even undertake a carers assessment then you can visit the Hounslow Procedures website. The page is broken down into the five main areas:
- Background and Definition - this is to help you understand if you are a carer.
- Identifying Young Carers - this is to help you understand the different type of carers.
- Assessing Need and Providing Support - this is the carers assessment.
