Service Description:
The Rise School is registered with the Department for Education as SEND Free School and opened in September 2014. It is co-located with Tudor Park Education Trust on Browells Lane, Feltham, TW13 7EF. The Rise School is for pupils between 4-18 years old who are able to access an age-appropriate curriculum but find it difficult to thrive in a mainstream environment. They are educated in small classes of 8 pupils with additional support from Teaching and Learning Assistants. Our curriculum is carefully designed to take into consideration their holistic development. Two pillars underpin all that we do at The Rise: the academic and social progress of our pupils. The curriculum is divided into nine zones, each of which contributes to the development of the key skills (academic and personal) in order to be successful: Social Curriculum/Personal Development English/Literacy Maths/Numeracy Science History/Topic Computing Vocational Arts Body Our social curriculum is a fourth “core” subject and is essential for the well-rounded development and well being for our young people and consists of PSHE and Citizenship, Well being and Yoga lessons. Pupils work towards a range of qualifications at KS4 which include: Functional Maths GCSE Maths IGCSE English Entry Level Science GCSE Science BTEC Level 2 Food Tech iMedia Level 2 City and Guilds Level 1 Construction.? Duke of Edinburgh Learning also takes place outside of the classroom with a large number of trips – both in the community and into wider London. Furthermore, pupils are able to sign up to a wide range of extracurricular clubs. Clubs we have offered over the last year include: Animation & IT, cooking, yoga, science, construction, art, mindful colouring, chess/board games, Spanish, football, American football, basketball, badminton, gym – secondary, athletics –primary, music – African drumming, music – choir, karate, horticulture. As we a co-located with a mainstream Secondary school (Springwest Academy) there are opportunities for pupils to join particular lessons there. We have a full time Speech and Language Therapist and a Occupational Therapist on staff who provide individual sessions with pupils in order to meet any needs identified in their Education and Health Care Plans. We know with the right support and opportunities, children and young people with autism can learn, thrive and achieve. For more information please visit our website: http://www.theriseschool.com/
