Translation, Accessibility and Search

Translation

Translation is currently possible through use of third-party programmes only while using either a computer or a mobile device. Below are a set of instructions for how to do so. It is important to note that third-party translation programmes may not be 100% accurate.

On a Desktop/PC or MacBook/iMac:

While using a computer of any kind, Google Translate can be used in order to translate webpages. Below is a step-by-step guide:

1. Copy the URL of the page you wish to translate

2. Open a New Tab and go to Google Translate at https://translate.google.com/

3. At the top of the Google Translate page, click 'Website'

4. Select the language you wish to translate into

5. Post the copied URL into the text box

6. Click on the Blue Arrow.

If done correctly, this will take you to a translated version of the selected webpage.

On Mobile: Chrome (Android)

On Mobile: Safari (iOS)
If you have added an additional language on an iOS device, you can change the language in Safari. Below is a step-by-step guide:
  1. On the side of the URL address bar, tap 'aA'
  2. Choose 'Translate'
If done correctly, you should see a translated version of the current webpage.

Accessibility

Changing accessibility settings such as colours, contrast and font size can make your device easier to use. You can use the guides below to find and change your accessibility settings based on the type of device you use to access this Directory.

iOS (iPhone/iPad):

Microsoft (Windows PC/Desktop):

Alternatively, you can change accessibility settings in some web browsers if you are using a computer. You can use the guides below to change your accessibility settings based on your web browser.

Search

This Family Service Directory site currently does not have a specific search function, however, there are ways that you can search each page for a specific key word or phrase. Below are a set of instructions for how to do so.
On Desktop/PC:
If you are accessing the Family Service Directory on a Desktop, PC or Laptop and wish to search for a key word or phrase, you can use the computer shortcut 'Ctrl + F'.

Press and hold the Control key (Ctrl) and press the 'F' key. This will bring up your computer's in-built search function and will allow you to then type in whatever key word or phrase you are searching for. Please note, this will only search the page you are currently on and not the wider content of this Directory.
This will work whatever web browser you are using (i.e Chrome, Edge, FireFox etc.)

On MacBook/iMac:
If you are accessing the Family Service Directory on a MacBook/iMac and wish to search for a key word or phrase, you can use the computer shortcut 'Command + F'.

If you are accessing the Family Service Directory on an iPhone or are using Safari as your mobile web browser, you can use the 'On this Page' function.

Start by opening the page you wish to search on, in your Safari mobile web browser. Tap the URL bar at the top and type in the word or phrase you wish to search for. Scroll down to 'On this Page' and tap 'Find' the word or phrase you typed in.

This will work on Safari only.

On Mobile: Chrome or FireFox
If you are accessing the Family Service Directory on an Android or are using Chrome or FireFox as your mobile web browser, you can use the 'On this Page' function.

Start by opening the page you wish to search on, in your Safari mobile web browser. Tap the three dots in the corner to bring up the menu. Scroll down to 'Find in Page' and tap. Type in the word or phrase you wish to search for.

This will work on Chrome or FireFox only.
