Bullying

Bullying in school

If you suspect or your child tells you that they are being bullied speak with your child's teacher or head of year. All schools have a behaviour policy in place that includes measures to prevent all forms of bullying among pupils. Explain your concerns and see what can be done to support your child overcoming the bullying.

If you are not happy with the way in which the school has dealt with the bullying you can seek advice on making a complaint to your child's school about bullying.

Bullying outside of school

Head teachers have the legal power to make sure pupils behave outside of school premises. This includes bullying that happens anywhere off the school premises, eg on public transport or in a town centre. School staff can also choose to report bullying to the police or local council. So if the bullying is happening outside of school by children that attends your child's school talk to the teacher or head of year.

If the bullying is from others you will need to report the instances to the police. They will be able to tell you what you need to do or how they can help.
