Caring for a disabled child can also be very much a lone parent issue. Over a quarter (26 per cent) of lone parents are caring for a sick or disabled child which means that there are around half a million parents in the UK bringing up at least one child with additional needs on their own.

One Parent Families designed the Disabled Child project to provide a seamless information and advice service for lone parents with sick or disabled children.
