How we support SEND
I do not have a lot of experience with supporting children with SEND but welcome children with a range of needs and I am committed to going on relevant training to support children and their families.
I do have lots of experience with supporting children with asthma and had asthma myself whilst growing up.
I also have experience of supporting children with allergies/anaphylaxis. My first aid training covers asthma and recognition/treatment of anaphylaxis including administration of epi-pen.
I am willing to undertake training and/or obtain advice from outside professionals/specialists to meet the needs of children with additional needs accessing my setting.
I am confident in identifying early identification of needs, I have training in writing targeted plans (individual support plans) and making referrals to outside agencies (e.g. speech and language therapy service or health visitors).
I have training in SEN communication, including using use of visuals, bucket time and special time. I have resources in my setting to be able to use all 3 of these methods immediately.
I have off road parking with a wide private driveway, down a quiet road. I work closely with parents/carers. I will carry out a thorough risk assessment and health care plan before a child starts at my setting, to support all needs and to ensure child can access all learning opportunities in my setting and off site, including trips.
Reasonable adjustments/adaptations will be made, where appropriate, in accordance with the requirements of the Equality Act (2010).
