Short breaks for disabled young people

Short breaks are a way children and young people can spend quality time away from their parents or carers.

This could be a few hours break, or a week, or even a short holiday.

Activities can include

  • kayaking
  • horse riding
  • cookery sessions
  • music therapy
  • film and theatre screenings
  • trips to the theme parks and other attractions
  • family swims and pool parties

Eligibility for short breaks

Depending on their level of need and eligibility, support can be offered for young people with:

  • learning disabilities
  • physical disabilities
  • autism spectrum
  • challenging behaviour

How to get short break support

You need to be a family living in the borough of Hounslow with a child who has special needs to be eligible.
