Support Services

If you require help and advice on what you would like to do, you can find listed here some of and the options available:
Connexions: Contact by telephone on 0208 583 5151 to make an appointment to see someone who can help with careers advice. More information can be found in the Careers Advice section of this SEND Local Offer.
Supported Internships: These are programmes that support young people with SEND to transition from education to employment or other forms of work.
DFN Project SEARCH is an internal Supported Internship for young adults with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, which supports their transition from education to full time, paid employment.

The DFN Project SEARCH Programme has started recruiting for the next academic year.
DFN Project SEARCH is a transition to work programme for young people with learning disabilities and Autism, which supports their transition from education to full time, paid employment.

We would like to offer the young person an opportunity to join us for our upcoming open day on:
Date: Saturday 11th of November
Time: 10 am – 1pm
Venue: West Thames College -London Road, TW7 4HS

Traineeship: If you don’t yet have the skills needed to start your career, a traineeship can give you the experience you need to find a job. The Department for Education site can help you find a Traineeship that's right for you.

Apprenticeships: In an apprenticeship, you can earn money while getting on-the-job training and qualifications.

Hounslow CouncilWe provide advice, guidance and support with job applications to help residents to gain apprenticeships open to Hounslow residents aged over 16 years of age.

Opportunities and Resources: This is a list of the partners we work with to help young people get into employment and training.

Employment Opportunity Service: This service aims to support people over 18 with a disability to find and retain paid employment. If you are looking for paid work or want to take steps towards paid work, then the Employment Opportunities Service may be able to help.

Job Centre Plus Disability Employment Advisor: Every Job Centre has one. An EHCP should be good enough evidence of a disability or indeed PIP/ESA benefits. They can contact the SEN Team if necessary.

Shaw Trust: The Trust prepares people with disabilities for employment offering short courses and 1:1 support. Referral is via Job Centre Plus.

Scope – Kick Start: into work service for Hounslow young people. Tailored employment support for disabled people.
You could be looking for your first job, or to get back into work, education, training, or volunteering. Scope will work together to help you achieve your goals.
MENCAP Job Support: If you are between 16-24, have a learning or other disability. Ealing Mencap’s Job Start Project can help you with:
  • CV and cover letter writing
  • How and where to look for jobs
  • Completing job application
  • Mock interviews
  • Speaking to an employer about needs & reasonable adjustments.
To get help a young person should be an Ealing or Hounslow resident and ideally have recently become unemployed.

The service is available to provide a 12 week 1:1 support programme and help with CV building, job searching, applications, interview preparation and speaking to employers.
