Early Learning for 2-year-olds (15 hours)
When will my child be eligible
The term after they turn 2 years old.
You need to apply and get a code.
This funding covers 38 weeks a year (school term time).
If you use less than 15 hours per week, you might get funding for more weeks.
Income related criteria
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Universal Credit, and your household income is £15,400 a year or less after tax, not including benefit payments
Universal Credit and not working
the guaranteed element of Pension Credit

Once you have your 2 year old code and you and your partner (if you have one) are working, you may also be eligible for an additional 15 hours under the
working parent entitlement

Children with a Special Education Need or Disability
Your child has a special educational need or a disability and has
:
an
Education, Health and Care plan
(EHCP)
or receives
Disability Living Allowance
(DLA).
You must email us a copy of the EHCP or DLA letter to
fis@hounslow.gov.uk
. We will contact you for further details before providing you with the code you need.
Your child is or was adopted or in foster care
You will need to request the Early Learning for 2 year olds through the child's Social Worker. This applies to children who:
is looked after by the local authority
left care under a special guardianship order
has a child arrangement order
has an adoption order
Families with No Recourse to Public Funds
If you are not a UK citizen and your immigration status says 'No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF)', you may still be able to get 15 hours of Early Learning for your 2 year old child.
Asylum seekers
You can get Early Learning for your 2-year-olds (15 hours) if you are waiting for a decision for your asylum claim and/or receiving support through the Home Office or Children's Social Care.
What isn't covered
meals or snacks
other consumables (like nappies or sun cream),
extra hours or activities (like trips).
Providers may charge for these extras. You do not have to pay for these if you provide your own. Discuss your options with the childcare provider. Charges should not be a condition of accessing a funded place.
