Holiday Playschemes

Holiday playschemes are fun clubs for children aged 4 to 11. They run during school holidays and offer activities like:
  • Sports
  • Games
  • Arts and crafts
  • Drama and acting
Playschemes can be run by schools or private groups. They may take place at a school or another building.
Some playschemes need to be booked in advance. Others let you just turn up. Prices are different for each one and some may offer discounts if you book early or for siblings attending together.

All the playschemes listed below are registered with Ofsted. This means if you are eligible for Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit childcare, you could get help with the cost of paying for the schemes.

Childminders who offer care during school holidays

Free holiday activities for eligible children (HAF) (Opens in New Window)

The Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) is for eligible school aged children from reception to year 11 (inclusive) who receive benefits-related free school meals. HAF operates in the following school holidays and children receive a healthy meal each day:
  • one week at Easter
  • four weeks in the Summer
  • one week at Christmas
