Target Audience
This course is suitable for Nursery Teachers, School Nursery Leads and Teachers, Room Leaders, Deputy Managers and Managers across Early Years settings.
Course Outline:
The overall aim of the course is to ensure that education professionals are confident in:
  • What school readiness looks like in practice. 
  • Working backwards. How to plan a curriculum to ensure children are school ready. 
  • Pre-school rooms: what should this look like in practice.
  • Looking at merged rooms. 
On this course you will:
  • Look at the national guidelines around School Readiness
  • Look at the Baseline Assessment that Reception Teachers administer and your role in this as a Nursery. 
  • Planning and resourcing to ensure children are challenged appropriately in the pre-school environment. 
  • Discuss merging rooms. How could this impact learning and development?
  • What Pre-School and nursery learning and development looks like at various points in the year. 
  • Using the School Readiness documentation to help you plan an effective pre-school year. 
  • Think about Phonics and mathematics and what this looks like in pre-school.
