Course outline:
The purpose of this course is to provide practitioners with information and practical ways to plan and deliver an attention and listening skills group with young children.
The Attention and Listening Group intervention is an opportunity to promote communication, social and learning skills on a regular basis with young children.
The session will include practical ideas, sharing of resources and modelling of small group intervention
Course objectives:
- to understand how attention and listening skills develop in young children
- to support practitioners in identifying links with the EYFS
- to build knowledge and understanding in practitioners to be able to plan and deliver their own attention and listening skills group within their setting.
Course outcomes:
Practitioners will have increased:
- knowledge and understanding of how attention and listening skills develop in young children and how to identify children who would benefit from attending the group
- understanding of how to identify links to the EYFS
- motivation and confidence to plan and deliver an attention and listening skills group in their setting
- understanding of how to identify targets for individual children and monitor their progress during the group and evidence impact.
