Education support for children in mental health services

Advisory teachers work with children and young people in mental health services, in schools and their homes, to improve the mental and emotional wellbeing.

Areas supported 

  • autism spectrum disorder
  • ADHD
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • school phobia
  • complex mental health issues. 

How to refer a child for support

A referral to the CAMHS team, with the permission of the parents or carers, can only be made by:

  • The clinicians, within the clinical teams based at CAMHS, that is, the child or student is under the care of a CAMHS professional
  • referrals can't be accepted from other professions, schools or parents/carers
